About this collection

This collection, generated by a consortium of  CSU Archives, cultural heritage, private university, and University of California archives, features documents, oral histories, photographs and other materials relating to the incarceration of Japanese American during World War II. Touching on a wide range of topics, many camps, the effects of the earlier Alien Land Acts and other topics, the CSU collections bring together disparate local collections into one website to form a collection of national importance.

The project has received funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities, National Parks Service, Haynes Foundation, CCLPEP (California Civil Liberties Public Education Program) and the NHPRC (National Historical Publications and Records Commission). Currently, the collection has over 10,000 objects and continues to grow.
